Hosted by the Independent Schools Parent Magazine, the Independent Schools of the Year Awards are one of the UK’s leading education awards, shining a light on the work and improvements of independent schools across the UK.
From the 25 different award categories, we are delighted to be recognised for overall Independent School of the Year in the Central region category – which includes Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Derbyshire, Essex, Hereford and Worcester, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Suffolk and Warwickshire.
Founded in 1864 as Suffolk’s memorial to Queen Victoria’s beloved husband, Prince Albert, Framlingham College overlooks the 12th Century Framlingham Castle. Our location and strong sense of belonging in the heart of Suffolk creates a special atmosphere of ambition and freedom for every pupil.
Located two hours from London with sprawling countryside in between, pupils are provided with space to try new things, grow confidence and unearth talents through a variety of co-curricular and academic avenues.
Within our 85-acres of manicured sports fields, pupils can play rugby, cricket, hockey, netball, tennis, practice golf putting, swimming, athletics, archery and rifle shooting. Classes are often taken outside for biology, field work, astronomy, horticulture and beekeeping.
Our extensive school minibus network ensures that our rural setting has a global reach, with express services to Cambridge, Norwich, Colchester, London Liverpool Street, Stansted and Gatwick to support pupils with commuting, airport transfers, weekend activities, trips, tours, and sports matches.
Our partnerships with Aldeburgh Golf Club, Aldeburgh Yacht Club, RAF Woodbridge, Ipswich Minster Choir, and Valley Farm Riding School, allows pupils to thrive in an immersive learning culture knowing their dreams and passions are fully encouraged and supported.
Our wonderful relationship with the local community continues to thrive, with generosity, compassion and empathy developed in every Framlinghamian. Each year over 10,000 volunteering hours are completed by our pupils in a variety of after school activities; from the Framlingham Community Garden, PHAB Club, dog-walking, litter picking and charity coffee mornings.
Our CCF continues to make huge contributions to the local community, with one of our pupils selected as the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet last year to represent the community at official openings and special commemorative services throughout Suffolk.
We are committed to supporting local events like the Framlingham Horse Show, Framlingham Country Show and Suffolk Music Fest, continuing as proud sponsors of the Framlingham Gala and the Aldeburgh Regatta, and playing host to the Framlingham Tennis Tournament.
