Framlingham College is celebrating another strong set of Sixth Form results, with A Level performance continuing its upward trend since 2019 and impressive achievements across academic, creative and vocational pathways.

Across A Levels, BTECs and EPQs, 86% of grades were awarded at A* – C or equivalent, while one in three pupils achieved at least three A* – B grades or equivalent. At A Level, 32% of grades were awarded at A* – A and 60% at A* – B.

For the second consecutive year, the College also achieved an outstanding 100% Distinction rate in the University of the Arts Level 3 Extended Diploma, a creative arts and design qualification equivalent to three A Levels. The Distinction equates to three A* Grades.

Over 50% of all of all BTEC grades were awarded at Distinction*/Distinction – equivalent to an A*/A – while 63% of EPQs achieved A* – A.

Almost a third of this year’s cohort have a recognised special educational need, with 100% passing all of their examinations and 69% achieving C or above across every subject (or equivalent).

So far, of those choosing university as the next step in their journey, 70% have secured a place at their first-choice.

There is a universal truth that, whatever our ambitions and whatever field of knowledge or expertise we aspire to, nothing can replace hard work, perseverance and resilience. This cohort of Framlinghamians has fully embraced this truth, deepening their understanding, furthering their learning and in doing so, expanding their horizons. They leave us as young adults equipped with self-awareness, courage and confidence, determined to embrace the opportunities ahead and make a difference in the world.”

The “individualised support” highlighted in the College’s recent Independent Schools Inspectorate report is at the heart of Framlingham’s approach. As a non-selective school, its strength lies in really knowing its pupils – recognising that young people learn in different ways, finding the right combination of subjects and qualifications for each individual. Underpinning this is an unwavering belief in what each pupil can achieve, coupled with the support and encouragement to help them realise their potential.

The breadth of their achievements is reflected in what comes next. This year’s leavers are progressing to a wide range of courses including Medicine, Mathematics, English, Biology and Physics, alongside Fashion Communication, Broadcast Engineering, Visual Arts and Film, Product Design, Sport and Exercise Science, International Relations, Business, Marketing and Sustainable Land Management.

Destinations include universities such as Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford, Durham, Bristol, Liverpool, Loughborough, Edinburgh and Newcastle, with pupils pursuing an equally diverse range of courses including Medicine, English Literature, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Fashion Communication, History of Art, Sustainable Land and Business Management, Modern Languages, Digital Media Design, Marine Biology and Anthropology and Archaeology.

Reflecting our pupils’ strong entrepreneurial spirit and sense of adventure, others are choosing a different next step. Plans include setting up their own business, working as an au pair in France while learning French, taking up Gap Year Assistant roles in Hong Kong and Australia, beginning an accountancy apprenticeship, completing an Art Foundation course and embarking on volunteering adventures across Africa and Asia.

At Framlingham College, there is no typical Framlinghamian and no single path our pupils take. Among this year’s leavers are academics, actors, musicians, expeditioners, sports stars, innovators, linguists, scientists and artists – often many things within one.

Each of the 87 pupils leaving Framlingham this summer has their own strengths, ambitions and story. Today, the College celebrates their achievements, the staff who have supported them along the way, and the many different paths they will take next.
