Framlingham College is celebrating the achievements of 72 Year 11 pupils following another strong set of GCSE results, with impressive outcomes across a broad range of subjects.

82% of all grades were awarded at 9 – 5, while 94% were awarded at 9-4. At the top end, 42% of grades were awarded at 9 – 7, up from 38% last year.

One quarter of pupils achieved at least one Grade 9, the highest grade possible, while one in five achieved at least eight grades at 9 – 7.

A quarter of this year’s GCSE cohort have a recognised special educational need, with 94% achieving Grade 9 – 4 in English Language, 78% in Mathematics and 67% achieving at least one Grade 9 – 7. Over 60% achieved Grade 4 or above across every subject.

“Our GCSE results are the culmination of each pupil’s academic and personal journey: from the early days of Year 9, as they embraced a broad range of subjects, through the hard slog of Year 10 and into the exam room in June.

We celebrate their achievements and by that I am referring as much to the hard-won Grade 4 as I am to the much-deserved Grade 9. No two Framlinghamians are the same, but wherever their strengths lie, they all share a common goal: to give their best and fulfil their potential.

And their story is not yet complete. These GCSE results are the early chapters and I can’t wait to find out what happens next as they embark on their Sixth Form journey here at Framlingham College. Congratulations to each of our wonderful Year 11 pupils. We are so proud of you.”

Behind the headline figures are individual stories of progress and achievement, alongside impressive performances across the curriculum. 80% of Fine Art grades were awarded at 9 – 7, alongside 79% in Biology, 75% in Physics and 73% in Chemistry, reflecting the breadth of academic strength across the College.

The “individualised support” highlighted in the College’s recent Independent Schools Inspectorate report is at the heart of Framlingham’s approach. As a non-selective school, its strength lies in really knowing its pupils – recognising that young people learn in different ways and providing the academic and pastoral care that enables each individual to make progress and be academically ambitious. Underpinning this is an unwavering belief in what each pupil can achieve, alongside the encouragement to help them realise their potential.

At Framlingham College, there is no typical Framlinghamian and no singular path our pupils take. They are academics, actors, musicians, expeditioners, sports stars, innovators, linguists, scientists and artists – often many things within one.

This year’s GCSE results reflect the different strengths, interests and ambitions of 72 pupils and the hard work and determination behind their achievements. For many, their Framlingham story will continue into Sixth Form this September, where they will be joined by nearly 40 new pupils to form one of the largest Year 12 cohorts in the College’s history.

Today, the College celebrates their achievements, the teachers, staff and parents who have supported them along the way and the many different stories still to come.
