Advent is that special time of year when we cherish hope and the anticipation of celebrations to come. This year, the dawn of Advent coincides with the announcement of the approval of the first safe and effective vaccination for Covid-19. It seems after a year like no other, Advent has brought us the hope that better times really are not too far away.
To mark the beginning of Advent, School Chaplain, Brynn Bayman said: “Psychologists champion the value of delayed gratification. Advent is a season of waiting, of anticipating for our souls will be saved by our Saviour, our health will be aided by our scientists and our hearts will soar this Christmas.“
All across the College, the arrival and sense of anticipation is evident. It is felt especially by our senior Sixth Form pupils who are approaching the end of their time here at Framlingham College, ready to go on to make waves in their chosen fields, having gained the tools to do just that.
To celebrate the season of Advent and the sense of anticipation it brings, we spoke to three senior pupils about their applications to some of the best universities in the country. As well as how the experiences and support they received here at Framlingham College helped give them the skills and the confidence to chase their dreams.
While the Advent period always brings with it a sense of anticipation, after a year in which nothing happened as normal, we are especially grateful for the hope it brings us all in 2020.
