One of the more unexpected upsides of lockdown is greater levels of engagement among students with political and economic issues. After a topsy-turvy year in which politics has taken centre stage, teachers from the Senior School and the Prep School have noticed a marked increase in pupil engagement with related issues. James Loveridge, Head of Junior Prep, said: “I’m a big believer in using current news topics as part of education. At the start of lockdown we used BBC Newsround a lot to help counter mistruths and reassure students. I found that this year many Prep School children were very engaged by the US election and a number of tutors had the news on for the pupils on that historic election day.”
