The Year 4’s thoroughly enjoyed their ‘whistle stop’ visit to the Hindu Temple in Ipswich today. The children were greeted by Martin (our guide for the morning) and taken upstairs to the Mandir, where they discovered a colourful display of Hindu dieties and artefacts.
The children learnt about the origins of the Hindu religion, played musical instruments and rang a bell to understand how worshipers are invited into the temple. They also saw how saris are tied for female traditional costumes and a team of boys challenged the girls with the Conch shell horn to see who could create the sound which ushers in freshness and new hope according to Hindus.
