Year 11 decamped to the Barbican this week to see the latest Royal Shakespeare Company production of Romeo and Juliet.
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) production had a modern feel with hoodies, knives and thudding live music – which rather surprised some more traditional-minded students! The two leads were strong though with Bally Gill really nailing some of Romeo’s comic potential in the first half of the play.
Some great debate was had both on the coach home and in lessons the day after and the students, most of whom are studying the play for their Literature GCSE, will have a far better grasp of the text having now been to see a major production.
