The U14 girls made the long trip to Redbridge & Illford Hockey club to take part in the East Regional Qualifiers. They needed to win to secure qualification for the Finals day in late November. The pool began with a stern test against a Bedford Modern side who started very strongly but as the game wore on the Framlingham midfield took control with Holly Wills breaking the deadlock by creating and finishing fine opportunities, the final score 2-0. The second game against Wisbech Grammar was a more comfortable experience with early goals from Grace Nicholls (2) and Holly Wills securing the win in the first half.  This meant that a win in the final game v Stamford would secure top spot in the pool and a playoff against Norwich School. The girls played some great hockey, with Olivia Buchannan and Georgie Gardens looking very threatening in midfield and Freya Faulkner and Sophie Pettitt marshalling the back line with authority in a 4-0 win.

The final match to decide the East Finalist would be a repeat of last year’s match and it was a very even game with chances being created at both ends. Emma Williamson and Anna Cogdell played with calm heads and passed very well but it was Norwich who scored a well worked penalty corner to lead 1-0. Despite an excellent second half performance it looked to be slipping away until Anna Cogdell smashed a rebound from a Georgie Gardens shot back towards the goal only for Olivia Buchanan to tap it in and take the game to penalties. The girls twice showed their determination and resilience as they managed to come back from 3-1 down in the penalties to win in sudden death with Rosie Atkin in goal and Holly Wills scoring the all important sudden death penalty.  The U14 team are through to the Finals day back at the same venue on the 23rd November.
