Congratulations to Framlingham College pupil Toby Trinder who has been awarded a full-time professional contract at Northampton Saints.
Toby, pictured above on the left, has been an outstanding role model throughout his time at Framlingham, representing the College at every age group, starting as a back-row player and gradually moving up to become a Prop (6ft 3in and 120kgs). He captained the 1st XV at the College in Year 12 in a season where he was also selected for England U17s. Unfortunately, this year saw Toby suffer a shoulder injury during pre-season training at Northampton and he missed the entire season and had to have surgery on his shoulder. During this time Toby has been very supportive of the Rugby at the College and has shown a huge amount of determination and commitment to his rehabilitation. He has managed to play about 50 minutes for Northampton Saints in their final game of the season and was invited to train with the 1st Team squad at Northampton Saints during half term, where he was then offered the professional contract. Toby will move up to Northampton in July to undertake what will be a brutal pre-season training programme.
Framlingham College Headmaster, Paul Taylor, reports ‘all at the College are very proud of Toby – not only for the exceptional achievement of being awarded a professional rugby contract while still at school, but also for the way he has carried himself throughout his time at the College. He is a fine role model both on and off the games field, and the contract is just reward for his on-going dedication, determination and willingness to work hard and learn at every stage of his career. We are delighted for him’.
