Framlingham College U15A girls’ team of India Ball, Lottie Summers, Liberty Salsby and Isabella Prince clinched the Suffolk Schools’ title yesterday with a hugely impressive 10-2 victory against Ipswich High School for Girls.
With excellent victories in previous league matches against Culford School, Woodbridge School and Ipswich School, the girls knew that victory today would secure the Championship and emulate the result the same four girls achieved for the prep school team as U13s two years ago.
Playing the four singles first, Liberty and Isabella were both comfortable winners at 3 and 4, whilst Lottie and India were both locked in very close affairs against higher rated players. Lottie eventually went down 3-6 but India stayed strong to record a most impressive 6-4 win. Liberty and Isabella clinched the match with an assured 6-2 win in their doubles. To put icing on the cake India and Lottie won a very well fought doubles 7-5.
The team now progresses to the regional round of the competition which will take place in the autumn term.
Framlingham College Senior Tennis Professional, Trevor Wright was thrilled with the girls performance, “These girls have achieved what they deserve after showing another year of dedication, hard work and commitment to their tennis”.
