Sixteen students from Framlingham College undertook their spiritual ‘rite of passage’ on Friday evening and were Confirmed by the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich, The Rt. Rev Martin Seeley.
The Bishop spoke fondly about friendship and what it means to be friends with Christ. He also revealed his new page on Facebook and his Lenten Pilgrimage across Suffolk, from Dunwich to Bury St Edmunds, over ten days.
Christianity poses more questions than answers, but I have still decided to take the logical step and be Confirmed
– Jasper Pollitt, Framlingham College Student
Jasper Pollitt and Rhys Pearson-Shaul gave public testimony of their decision to be Confirmed and parents and godparents gave candles, representing the Light of Christ, to the Confirmands. It was a deeply moving service, made that bit more poignant as the Bishop said a prayer ofrededication, as the Chapel celebrates its 150th Anniversary. Friends and family travelled from far and wide. The Dean of Litchfield, the Very Reverend Adrian Dorber, was at the service supporting his niece and nephew.
The Headmaster of the College reflected on ‘a very special occasion – one of the real highlights of the College year – and all present were struck by the intimacy and the profundity of a Service where 16 young people have made an active choice to be confirmed.’
