Students from Years 9, 10 and 12 in the Scholars’ Programme and Lower Sixth Theatre Studies students participated in an extended creativity and writing workshop run by Julia Sowerbutts, Artistic Director for Ink Festival and James McDermott; James is a playwright and scriptwriter who has already written for theatres as varied as the Lyric Hammersmith and Royal Court and is also resident playwriting tutor at Norwich Theatre Royal and New Wolsey Ipswich.

The students worked through a series of free writing drills, absorbed some fantastic writing advice and planted the seeds for their own short plays through improvisation and creativity exercises. It was a hugely successful day and we hope that some mighty short plays will emerge from those seeds.
