The RAF Section had two very different days training; on Sunday we went to Rendlesham Forest to do map and compass training work; the weather was against us with very heavy rain, making navigation difficult and testing the cadets’ clothing to the max.
The highlight was the doughnuts at the Pump Street bakery in Orford – strangely all cadets found this checkpoint with no problem! On Monday we travelled to the museum at Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes. This is, of course, the famous Station X of Enigma fame in World War Two (as pictured recently in the film “The Imitation Game”, which was only 40% accurate we learned) and it is an amazing place – the exhibitions extend to the latest cyber security issues, but it was the Codes and Ciphers practical session and the guided tour that summed the place up best – it is a museum like no other!
