Pupils from five primary and prep schools, together with a few of our own Year 6 singers and our Sixth Form music students, enjoyed an inspirational day of singing led by Lin Marsh on Wednesday 23rd January, in the College chapel.
Lin is a highly sought-after composer, specialising in vocal works for young people. She is also one of the UK’s most well-respected singing leaders, travelling the country inspiring students and teachers with her dynamic workshops. The day was packed full with Lin teaching the children four of her songs from memory (with actions), as well as working on a massed performance of her hit song, ‘Believe’, which every school had prepared in advance.
She also spent time working on warm ups, sound production and performance skills. It culminated in a joyful and polished performance for parents and friends at the end of the day, which was impressive and moving in places.
Our ethos encourages students to find happiness through self expression and creativity, and this day was a firm reminder of the importance of teaching children of all ages to believe in themselves, enabling them to achieve results they are both proud of and motivated by.
A fabulous day from start to finish! Thanks go to Kersey Primary, Sidegate Lane Primary, Fairstead House Prep School, Charsfield and Dennington Primary schools.
