Congratulations to Year 8 and 9 cricketers Poppy Dring-Richardson and Sophie Singer who have both been picked for the Essex Regional Emerging Player Programme (EPP).
Essex County Cricket Club describes the EPP programme as being “An elite programme which focuses on the development of players in the Under 14 and 15 age group who the County feel have potential to progress towards first-class cricket.”
Sophie, who is top ladies’ run scorer in Suffolk boasting a 123* last summer will be attending the regional sessions which begin next week. Sophie is joined by Poppy who both enjoyed an exceptional summer for Framlingham College Prep and Essex.
This is the latest cricketing accolade for Framlingham College and its’ pupils, following on from recent announcements that the school have become a partner school to Northants County Cricket Club, are the only school in Suffolk with an MCC Hub (for talented boys and girls in state schools) and the launch of it’s bespoke one on one, small group and all year round Saturday cricket coaching.
The school which has both Suffolk Head of Performance Cricket Andy Northcote and former South African T20 star Johann Myburgh on its’ staff are delighted.
Head of Cricket Chris Gange said: “It is remarkable to see how far girls’ cricket has come in recent years. We were early adopters of girls’ cricket at Framlingham and these selections are on the back of remarkable developments for cricket at the school. Both of the girls thoroughly deserves further opportunity to impress and develop and we look forward to hearing how they progress over the winter.”
