Last Friday the Old Framlinghamians hosted the current pupils at Aldeburgh Golf Club for the annual match.

The event started with a delicious lunch together. The format this year was foursomes and with the heavy clouds looming the first few matches were sent off pretty hastily. The first pair to go were Harry Dorber and Archie Winter and they were playing Mike Spencer and James Brocks and soon after Jake Swinburn and Josh Lecompte were off against Guy Jenkinson and Clive Cooksey. These matches ended up in the OF’s favour with a 4 & 3 win for Mike and James and the other game going down to the last but Josh and Jake were just pipped.

The next game saw an in form Harvey Finbow and Ben Swinburn take on Dougal Lyon (Head of Golf) and Jonny Newton (OF Captain). After 18 holes they couldn’t be split and the game ended in a half. The next two games also went the way of the OF’s with Lottie Riley and Luke Pritchard-Barrett going down 5 & 4 to Barry Hitchcock and Martin Lamb. Wilf Gittus and Leonie Heidger also were defeated by Brian Evans and Peter Howard-Dobson.

The penultimate game of the afternoon saw Norman Porter valiantly take on Julius Schenk and Will Simpson who rescued a point for the College winning 6 & 5. The final game of the day saw Tom Huggins take on George Hornsby-Cox in a singles match. George went down early and struggled to get back into the game losing 8 & 7. The day was enjoyed by all and a big thank you to Aldeburgh Golf club and the OF’s for hosting the event.
