The College are delighted to announce that Andy Northcote will be joining our cricket coaching staff on a temporary basis from October through to December. Andy, a Level 3 ECB coach and leading light in Suffolk Cricket, will replace Johann Myburgh, who will be joining the Sydney Thunder as a batting coach for the Women’s Big Bash League. Andy will be responsible for a number of 1-1 and small group coaching sessions at both the prep school and senior school and will work closely with our Head of Cricket, Chris Gange, who is also a Level 3 ECB coach.

Andy’s playing career has seen him fulfil player-coach roles in Sussex, Norfolk, Dublin and Suffolk, along with representing the Italian National side in 71 Associate Internationals and Western Province (SA) in First Class and List A fixtures. Andy previously worked at Culford School as Head of Cricket and Head of Sport. He has more recently been appointed as the Head of Suffolk Young Cricketers (Performance) and is currently Suffolk CCC 1st XI Head Coach and Manager. Andy’s connections are equally strong in Norfolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire and he is a well-respected figure in the wider cricketing community.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Robinson, Co-curricular Deputy, observed: ‘This is excellent news for the College on two fronts. Our Head of Cricket Development, Johann Myburgh, is afforded the opportunity to further develop his high profile coaching experience and expertise in Australia, while our pupils gain exposure to an equally well-qualified new coach in Andy Northcote, with his own wonderfully innovative approach to the game.’
