On Friday 10th December in the Chapel at the Senior school, two carol services took place spanning the whole day. In the morning, pupils from the Prep school journeyed to take their places at the Senior school Chapel and sang Christmas Carols to a large audience of just over 200 parents and relatives. Prep school pupils sang a range of popular carols, including Oh Little Town of Bethlehem and Once in Royal David’s City.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the Senior school carollers to perform before their parents in the Chapel. Senior pupils sang a range of Christmas classics, including Oh Come all Ye Faithful and In the Bleak Midwinter. Parents and teachers agreed it was a rousing performance from both sets of pupils and imparted Christmas spirit upon our entire school community ahead of the upcoming festive break.

In addition, this year saw a few of our pupils, who sing with the St Mary-le-Tower Choir, produce a festive CD full of Christmas hits which is being sold online for £12. The disc was made with the Gramophone Award-winning label Delphian Records and has already been warmly received in the national press, being the lead review in the December issue of Choir & Organ Magazine.

The recording includes both traditional carols as well as more recently composed ones, mostly with an East Suffolk connection. Furthermore, the two images used in the CD booklet, were painted by local artists, Wendy Brooke-Smith and current chorister Kitty Thompson.
