To add to the already exciting cricket offering at school, Framlingham College is delighted to announce that we are officially an MCCF Cricket Hub for 2017-2018.  The only one in Suffolk!

The MCC Foundation (MCCF) Cricket programme provides high quality coaching, free of charge, to promising state school-educated cricketers between the ages of 11 and 15.  One of the aims of the Foundation is to raise the profile of cricket amongst state school pupils and help support and develop them to reach district and county youth age group standards.

All coaching is funded by generous donors, private individuals and grant-making charities.

The initiative was launched in 2011 to address the decline of talented children from state schools progressing into club cricket and representing county sides.

An increasing number of County Boards recognise the considerable value of the Foundation’s work in helping them to identify talented state school cricketers.

The Foundation identifies children who have the ability to become good cricketers and provides them with mentoring and high-quality coaching. The MCCF Hub programme now supports 53 MCCF Hub programmes nationally and in 2017, engaged with over 1,800 participants, many of whom progressed to district and county sides, as well as becoming valued and enthusiastic members of their local cricket clubs.  Framlingham College is the only Hub in Suffolk with the next nearest being Norwich, Colchester and Cambridge.

The Foundation will be holding open trials for boys and girls on Sunday 26th November at Framlingham College for children nominated by either their school or cricket club.  The children must not currently be part of a county squad.

From the trial, 20-24 players will be selected for each age group who will then gain access to a 10 x 2-hour weekly winter programme of sessions at Framlingham College with top level coaches including Chris Gange, Level 3 Coach, current elite playing full member of the MCC and Head of PE at Framlingham.
