By: Leo Goldsmith – Head of English, Framlingham College

The Lower Sixth English Society met for the penultimate time this year.

We’ve now reached the era of the Romantic poets and Mr Goldsmith and Miss Cranmer explained some of the misconceptions that have built up around the poets loosely grouped into the Romantic movement.

A quick game of ‘identify the poets by their initials’ was won by Phoebe and Zoë Reynolds before the students listened to a short lecture from Mr Goldsmith. Three poems were then studied in seminar-style groupings.

The Society next meets on the 23rd June when the Victorians will be in our sights.
