Dr Ian Baird returned to kick off the Lower Sixth English Society’s programme for the year.

Dr Ian Baird, former Head of English here at Framlingham College, returned to the College to deliver the first talk of the year for the Lower Sixth English Society.

The programme is designed to stretch, challenge and provide insight into our literary history in a way that takes our students away from the precise parameters of the exam board mark schemes and help give a more University-style experience.

Dr Baird’s talk was fast-paced and engaging, covering more than five of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales around the central idea that Chaucer really was the first ‘modern’ writer in English. It was also great to see some Upper Sixth students returning too.
