After a pandemic-enforced pause to the ever-popular House Cross Country event, the competition returns to our Autumnal grounds with a flourish as pupils pull on their running shoes and brave the chill. This year’s Senior events were won by Moreau for the girls and Stradbroke for the boys race. In the Junior events, the girls in Moreau were successful again, with Rendlesham boys winning the Junior boys race.

Physical Education teacher, Miss Linnell, said: “The College’s first sports house event took place on Friday 15th October with the House Run Fun. A change of route allowed the students to start and finish at the front overlooking Framlingham Castle. This is a vital part of the children’s education as a way of creating a real team spirit as well as the physical and mental health [side of things]. With all students able to watch their peers complete the event it creates a real buzz for them.

“Physically it is good for the students to be able to participate in exercise with their peers that they may not normally have the opportunity to, as well as showing students what they physically can achieve. The mental benefits of exercise is proven to improve mood and sleep as well as boosting self-confidence and self-esteem. The House Fun Run aims to do exactly that; having changed from Intersets and Steeps where students felt under pressure, and houses faced challenges trying to field a team. It is good to see all students completing the same route and I feel it has improved the morale around the run.”
