On Wednesday 21st June, Framlingham College welcomed twenty-nine French students and their two teachers from the “Lycée Saint-François Xavier” in Vannes (Brittany, France). This was a return visit, as we had spent a day with them during the French trip last Easter holiday.
The day was a success! Twelve pupils from Year 10 and two from Year 12 had volunteered to be in charge of two French pupils for the day. In the morning, they followed them into lessons and had the opportunity to meet some of our teachers who were very welcoming – Mr French even dowloaded some French subtitles to go with the Baz Luhrman film version of Romeo and Juliet that his class was watching.
They then spent the afternoon doing a treasure hunt in groups around Framlingham – these six different treasure hunts had been created by Miss Cassan-Ferrier’s French Year 10 set and was a fantastic opportunity for the French pupils to discover the surroundings of the College.
After a few well deserved refreshments in the café, they were then very lucky to have a hockey session organised by Mr Kingstone, with the help and guidance of some of our top hockey players. Some of the French pupils loved it so much they even continued playing after the session was over.
Finally, the day ended brilliantly as we all headed to watch the drama Junior Production dress rehearsal in the Headmaster Porter Theatre, which they really enjoyed.
All in all, this was a fantastic day which was very pleasant and beneficial for our students learning French.
