College Ensembles and soloists filled a packed St Michael’s Church in Framlingham with an evening of musical brilliance, energy and joy in the annual Summer Concert.

The varied programme set our young musicians the challenge of playing technically demanding music, with musicianship always at the heart of their music making. Every ensemble performed with flair, with pieces ranging from Jupiter from The Planets by Holst, to Run to You by The Pentatonix. We welcomed our new Percussion Ensemble, under the charismatic leadership of Adam Morris, whose Samba set certainly raised the roof! Choral singing featured in the second half of the concert, ranging from our changing voices boy’s choir Cambiata, our full choir Cantus, and our elite Chamber Choir Cappella Lumina.

Particular mention must go to Cappella Lumina for their stunning performance of Run to You, around the audience. The combination of St Michael’s beautiful acoustics, and their delicately balanced parts made for a truly breathtaking piece of music, which will surely stay in our memories as a very special shared moment. Bravo!
