Year 11 fine artists basked in a sun-drenched trip to the Suffolk coast. Flotsam and jetsam provided rich pickings for our theme of ‘Fragments’. Snape Maltings provided crisp russet autumnal views, photo-shoot opportunities through Hepworth sculptures and a glimpse at our local artists: Maggie Hambling, Sarah Baddon-Price, Ania Hobson and Jelly Green.

We had the opportunity to see artist Ruth Bunnewell working in the Aldeburgh Gallery on her vibrant mood-infused vibrant landscapes. Southold’s pier infamous ‘Under the pier show’ gave shocks and spills in the photo-booth – all hand-made machines constructed by Tim Hunkin. The Serena Hall gallery showcased a myriad of artists in their autumn sale: animal sculptures by Joanne Cooke, exquisite seascape painting in fused glass to the flamboyant florescent paintings of Serena Hall herself. A rich collection of visual ideas after 7 art galleries. As the sun went down our appetites were fulfilled by fish and chips on the beach.
