On Tuesday 20th March the Boys’ 1st VII played at Millfield School in the IAPS U13 National Hockey Finals, having qualified as Runners Up for the East Finals at Bishop’s Stortford ten days previously. The boys had made huge progress throughout the season – having also come 3rd at the In2Hockey Regionals, so hopes were high for the tournament. In the first two games v Dean Close and Hazlegrove, despite creating numerous chances we went down 2-0 in both games. The boys stepped up for their third group game and enjoyed a solid 2-0 win v Hoe Bridge. The last two games were must wins, but unfortunately despite the games being incredibly close we went down 2-1 to both Dumpton School and to Greshams Prep.

Naturally there were frustrations from a wonderful group of boys who have grown so much together this term.

They will have learnt a lot from the experiences of playing at the highest level possible and will be better players as a result. They have been a joy to coach and will be an exciting group of players next year as they move on to Framlingham College. Well done boys.
