Framlingham may not be on same scale as Midsomer when it comes to fictional murders, but Year 9 pupils were once again pressed into action to unearth the killer of Principal South, the Headteacher of Saxtead College in a cross-curricular day designed to test their teamwork, ingenuity, resilience and logic.
The victim’s last drink was tested in the labs for traces of poison, along with ink samples from a letter written in French found at the scene. There were codes to be broken and interview transcripts to be analysed before a case could be mounted against one of suspects.
In the words of Hercule Poirot, “It is the little grey cells on which one must rely. One must seek the truth within – not without.” Little comfort for the recently departed Principal, but great fun for her young students.
