On Tuesday, 27th June, we were delighted to host a creative music workshop led by musicians from the Aldeburgh Young Musicians Centre for Advanced Training. Students from Sir Robert Hitcham’s Primary School and Thomas Mills High School, along with some of our own musicians, were inspired, challenged, entertained and supported by the very talented musicians they worked with.

The day consisted of musical warm ups, improvisation games and composition sessions both as a whole and in smaller groups. The students were also give an in depth presentation about Aldeburgh Young Musicians, pitched perfectly to explain what they as students could get out of the scheme. The day was rounded off with a performance of all of the compositional ideas that had been created during the day. It was a fantastic experience, and showed us all how tiny ideas can grow into sophisticated pieces with teamwork, imagination and a sense of purpose.

We will be hosting another workshop for prep schools next February, and can’t wait!
