Year 13 A Level Historians travelled to London to hear two of the country’s most eminent authorities on Tudor England.

An attentive audience gathered at the London Irish Centre in Camden to listen to Professor Steven Gunn (Merton College, Oxford) giving a scholarly talk on the character and timing of the ‘Mid-Tudor Crisis’; he later spoke on threats to the Elizabethan regime. Professor John Guy (Clare College, Cambridge) then lectured on the dynamics and tone of the relationship between ‘Elizabeth and her Parliaments’, followed by a lively exploration of ‘Elizabeth’s Last years, 1589-1603’. An illuminating Q & A session involving both Historians completed a valuable day.
