Year 12 Fine Artists and Photographers enjoyed a visit to Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge on Tuesday.

A tour and draw around the Kettle’s Yard house provided an insight into mid-century design and painting. We were encouraged to explore the house, sit on the chairs and experience the collection, which ranged from carefully organised pebbles in the round to wall hangings by Ben Nicholson. Students were challenged to draw in a mere minute to capture the essence of what they saw, contemplate and peruse further. All enjoyed working with a professional print-maker to etch from their drawings.

In the afternoon we sought solace in the sunshine walking and photographing the iconic architecture of Cambridge University, a lunch beside the Henry Moore’s ‘Hill Arches’ in the grounds of the Fitzwilliam Museum to seeking history inside the Fitzwilliam.
