Another successful trip to Pin Mill and the Woolverstone Marina with Year 4 pupils to back up our study of the classic story ‘We didn’t mean to go to sea’ by Arthur Ransome.

The guides from the Nancy Blackett Trust supported us through the day, with a variety of tasks from hoisting flags, tying knots, following the coastal walk, sketching the stunning scenery, playing pooh sticks in the shallow channels, trying out semaphore signalling and using flags as codes for our names and secret messages.

The highlight of the day was going aboard the very small replica sailing ship the Nancy, to fully appreciate what it was like for the Walker children in the book.
