Boarding Fees for UK Based Pupils

Our priority for pupils who are full or weekly boarding is to ensure they feel at home here. We facilitate this by offering every pupil who boards a reserved bed each night during term time. We also offer occasional boarding, where pupils have the option to stay over whenever there is an activity they want to join in with or whenever it suits them and their parents. It’s about offering our pupils every flexibility to enjoy the school facilities and activities once the school day is finished. While priority is naturally given to full boarders, we will do our best to accommodate any last-minute request to stay over from occasional/flexi boarders.

Pupil Insurance Scheme (Opt In)

The College is able to arrange insurance on behalf of parents should they wish their child/ren to be covered. Details of the various schemes are as follows:

  • Pupils’ Personal Effects Insurance – The College is unable to accept responsibility for breakages and losses of personal property of pupils. Parents opting for this product should check that the terms of coverage are suitable for their individual needs. This covers a total sum insured of £5,000 and a single item limit of £2,000.
  • Private Medical Insurance – The Pupils’ Healthcare Scheme gives you the peace of mind that should your child become ill, which is an already stressful time, they have fast access to treatment and care for eligible conditions.
  • Pupil Absence Insurance – The Governors regret that they are unable to refund fees if a pupil is ill at school or away from school for any reason, including sickness, accident, or quarantine. You are therefore very strongly advised to maintain fee protection cover which will provide a refund of fees paid in the event of a significant absence for health reasons.

If you require any further information on the schemes, please contact the Finance Department.

Reductions for Siblings

For families with three or more children at Framlingham College, Day fees will be discounted by 18.2% and 17.6% for the Senior School and Prep School, respectively for the third child and by 45.3% and 43.9% for the Senior School and Prep School, respectively for fourth and subsequent children.

MOD Continuity of Education Allowance (CEA)

Service families in receipt of the MOD CEA are offered a discounted full boarding fee, which enables their children to attend Framlingham College. CEA parents are expected to fund a minimum level of 10% of the school’s fees, as required by the MOD. The combination of the CEA funding and the Framlingham College fee remission of 14.6% (Prep School) / 24.1% (Senior School) off the school fees provides a very attractive offer to Service parents.

For the school year 2025/26 the full boarding fees at Framlingham College are £50,667 (inc VAT) for pupils in Year 9 and above. After deducting the MOD CEA maximum award of £33,390 and the Framlingham College remission of £12,210.30, the parental contribution is £5,066.70 per annum (£1,688.90 per term).

Fees and Withdrawal

Under this payment method the termly fees are invoiced in four equal monthly instalments each term (12 instalments per year from September to August inclusive) as follows:

  • Autumn Term – 4 monthly invoices and payments via DD: September, October, November & December.
  • Spring Term – 4 monthly invoices and payments via DD: January, February, March & April.
  • Summer Term – 4 monthly invoices and payments via DD: May, June, July & August.

The monthly payments are taken on the 15th of each month except when this date falls on a weekend or bank holiday, in which case it will be taken the following working day.

Please complete and return a hard copy of the Direct Debit mandate form to the College marked for the attention of Hayleigh Alden-Lee, Finance Manager. (For a DD mandate form, please contact the Finance Office via email on feequery@framlinghamcollege.co.uk.)

Our standard payment terms and conditions, which require payment in full on, or before, the first day of each term, are applicable if you do not wish to pay fees monthly. Bank transfer is our preferred payment method for termly payments and our bank details can be found in the remittance section of the termly fee invoices.

Bank details for the transfer of fees, or the payment of a Registration fee or deposit can be found by clicking here.

Extras incurred by pupils during the term are invoiced at the end of the relevant term. These invoices are due on receipt and are not collected through direct debit. Bank payment or cheque payment is accepted.

A full term’s notice is required for the withdrawal of a pupil, change of status, or discontinuation of an optional extra. A full term’s fees, or the charge for the optional extra, is payable unless such notice has been given. Please see your Parent Contract for full details of notice periods.

Early Education Funding & Childcare Vouchers

Many employers offer their employees access to childcare vouchers through salary sacrifice schemes. We are able to accept childcare vouchers for payment of:

  • Nursery fees
  • Boarding fees for any pupil up to, and including, the Summer Term of the academic year in which they turn 15. This can include Full Boarding, Weekly Boarding, Part Boarding and Occasional Boarding fees.

Please note that childcare vouchers cannot be accepted for payment of Day fees (Reception – Year 13).

We are able to accept Early Education Funding during Reception until the term where your child turns five. You will need to complete the forms provided by the school at the beginning of each term. This funding will then be credited against the school fees.

What Goes into Our Private School Fees?

We’ve broken down our fees into different sections to help families identify the different factors that go into our comprehensive educational experience. For example, our fee breakdown includes the costs associated with boarding options, which offer pupils a supportive and nurturing environment, as well as any prep school fees. Any enrichment programmes your child is interested in may incur supplementary charges. For an in-depth look at our fees, including rates for the academic year 2024/25, please review the detailed fee breakdown available on our website.
