Virtual Phab Club returns to keep teenage communities connected

Monday 1 Feb 2021

The ever popular, ‘Phab Club’, is back for 2021, offering a safe and fun environment for teenagers, with and without disabilities, to get creative and socialise. Phab Club is a long-standing national organisation with more than 8,000 members nationally. The Framlingham College branch went online in Autumn 2020, via Zoom, to encourage teenagers from Framlingham College and in the wider community to get together and take part in fun remote activities. Now, given the current Covid-19 situation, the club has returned.

Phab Club is a pupil-led initiative and year 12s and 13s have coordinated remote activities and built the club up themselves. The first virtual sessions took place in September and were hosted pupils at Framlingham College. The main focus was two quizzes compiled by the Phab Club Committee, but the group also found time to chat, laugh and re-discover old friendships, as well as make some new ones. Both ‘virtual’ meetings were well-attended.

One of the organisers of the Phab Club, Lottie Rowland, said: I think Phab Club provides a great opportunity for us all to appreciate the strengths of these amazing young people. We have learnt from their perseverance and have already gained so much happiness, laughter and love from spending time with them at these online sessions.  It’s the little moments we share with them that will remain a part of my best times at Framlingham College.”

Now that the UK is enduring a fresh lockdown for 2021, Phab Club has returned to regular Wednesday afternoon slots. This time teenagers will be able to enjoy activities like Character Bingo, Name that Tune and Pictionary as well as the ever popluar quizzes.

Organisers have requested that if you know of anyone who might benefit from joining the group, get in touch with Janine Williams (National Development Manager) via telephone on 01825 749826 or 07910 556588. For more information, see the flyer below:
