Framlingham College’s U14s have won the Suffolk Schools Championships for the 8th consecutive year after another strong display on Thursday 19th September at Rushmere.

The girls started the day strong with an 8-0 win versus Woodbridge and faced Ipswich High straight after; which, proved to be a much trickier game. The girls showed resilience and character after finding themselves drawing the game 1-1 at half time to pull through with a 3-1 win after some clinical penalty corner goals.

The final game before lunch saw Framlingham play St. Joseph’s, which saw the girls return to their goalscoring form and win 6-0.

After lunch, Framlingham knew they would face two tougher tests against Ipswich and RHS, the latter who they played first. In a gritty affair, it seemed as if the game was set for a 0-0 draw but after yet more determination and desire from the girls, they found a way to score and clinched a 1-0 win, and qualification for the Regional Rounds of the competition.

Needing a result from their last game versus Ipswich to be crowned County Champions, the girls started with real tempo and intensity, racing into a 2-0 lead. They then portrayed some of their best hockey of the day, to manage the remainder of the match and see them crowned Champions for the eight successive year.

Framlingham now head to the Regional Rounds, to be held at UEA on Tuesday 5th November as Suffolk 1, having scored 20 goals and conceding just 1.
