Framlingham College students took part in a special service of remembrance on Sunday 13th November 2017 for the 250 Old Framlinghamians who gave up their lives in the two World Wars.
The names of every fallen soldier was hand written by a present day Framlinghamian, on poppies and laid on the Altar. The visiting preacher and chair of Governors, Air Vice-Marshal Bill Rimmer (CB, OBE, MA, FRAeS RAF -rtd) spoke movingly about his own familial links with the Second World War and then showed the students a beautiful painting his father received while linked with a POW camp in Ireland. The Headmaster’s wife paid tribute to all the mothers and families who also suffered great loss in the war.
As a community it was evident that even though we are some 100 years removed from the start of the Great War, there is still much gratitude and respect for all the young soldiers did in both wars – so that in giving up their yesterdays, we would have a tomorrow.
