Mindfulness is taught to pupils at various stages of their time at Framlingham College and we are now looking to embed it as part of the curriculum.
The aim is to teach pupils some techniques that will help them manage the increasing pressures they are facing in today’s world. For example, mindfulness might help to relieve performance anxiety in exams, music, drama, or sport. It may also encourage better sleep patterns, improve concentration, or simply help pupils to manage the daily stresses of school.
The school chaplain often takes groups for mindfulness sessions at both sites and children learn to embed the practice into their every day life.
Over 25 teachers have been trained in the techniques through the Mindfulness in Schools Project and pupils in Year 9 are now experiencing the Project’s “.b Mindfulness” curriculum.
Mindfulness plays an integral role in our strong pastoral support system helping every pupil achieve a good balance in life.
