Day pupils make up around 40% of the student population at the senior school and the majority of the prep school pupils. They are an integral part of the school.
At the senior school, day pupils belong to one of our seven Houses (Garrett, Kerrison, Rendlesham, Stradbroke, Moreau, Pembroke and Victoria) and are able to share the accommodation and facilities available to boarders. Naturally, day students can also participate in the full range of co-curricular activities on offer. Each House has a strong identity and team spirit, guided by a Housemaster or Housemistress alongside a team of House Tutors and Matrons.
At the prep school, day pupils are fully integrated into every aspect of school life. If needed they can arrive in time for breakfast and stay for prep and supper before going home to bed. Each pupil from as young as 3 belongs to one of our four Houses (Britten, Constable, Gainsborough and Wolsey) integrating both day and boarders.
It’s important that the dining experience matches the high quality of food on offer. All meals take place in the traditional Dining Hall at the heart of the College, and our excellent chefs and catering staff provide a wide choice each day. This includes options that meet the needs of anyone with special dietary requirements.
Many day pupils choose to take up the opportunity to board occasionally and there is also the ability to change status from day to boarding without any fundamental change to pastoral life.
