At Framlingham College, we recognise the demands placed on modern parents. As a top UK Boarding School based in the heart of Suffolk, we offer flexible boarding arrangements that fit around the needs of your child(ren) and family.
At the Senior School, you are able to choose from the following types of boarding arrangement:
Full – Your child is at the school seven days per week, throughout each term.
Weekly – Your child boards 5 nights and goes home after matches on Saturday.
Part – Minimum of 3 nights per week.
Occasional – You and your child can arrange for boarding on an adhoc basis.
Whichever option you choose, the boarding experience aims to develop the academic, cultural, and physical talents of each child. This principle also underpins the lives of the day pupils and it is for these reasons that we remain a leading UK boarding school.
There are four boarding houses for boys (Garrett, Kerrison, Stradbroke and Rendlesham) and three for girls (Moreau, Pembroke and Victoria). These Houses are essentially home-from-home for the pupils. We fully integrate day students into the life of the campus by placing each one within a House. This allows for a sharing of accommodation and facilities, as well as identity. This engenders wonderful relationships between pupils and boarding staff. It also means that every pupil can take advantage of the rich seam of co-curricular activities on offer beyond the normal school day.
A typical boarding school day starts with Breakfast from 7.30am, chapel at 8:30am and lessons from 9am. After the academic part of the day there will be a full range of sport and activities on offer. Supper is served from 6pm and a supervised homework session runs from 7-9pm. This is followed by free time and lights out from 9.45pm.
At the Prep School we offer a flexible start and end to the day for all pupils including our Early Years as young as 3. From the age of 7, pupils also have the opportunity to board. With our numerous boarding school options (flexi to full) we are better equipped than ever to build an education around the lives of busy families and in essence can become that extra pair of hands! Almost 95% of pupils in Year 3 – 8 have boarded at some point during the past academic year.
We offer the following arrangements:
Full – Your child has a bed at the school seven days per week, throughout each term.
Flexi – Your child is allocated a bed on a specified night(s) every week of term. Includes 1-5 nights per week.
Occasional – Your child can board on an adhoc basis if space allows
At Framlingham College Prep School the after-school atmosphere is homely, safe and fun for all of our full time, flexi and occasional boarders.
We have one boarding house which offers a series of bright and airy rooms that have commanding views of the grounds and surrounding countryside. The boys and girls occupy separate floors, each with modern bathrooms and there is a communal common room. The children have easy access to the resident house staff and Mr Marland and his team make the whole boarding experience fun with a variety of special themed nights and exciting evening and weekend activities. Evening events include Squishy Making, Outdoor Movie Night, Harry Potter Extravanza and the Boarders’ Barbecue.
At Framlingham College, we strive for excellence in both our pupils, our teachers and throughout our school as a whole, developing the academic, cultural, and physical talents of each child as well as increasing their independence, their social skills, pride in their surroundings and their self-confidence. It is these values that ensure we remain a leading UK boarding school.
