Music and drama performances kick off Easter holidays for pupils across Prep and Senior schools

Wednesday 24 Mar 2021

Our pupils across both Prep and Senior schools have performed fantastically at a number of different musical and dramatic productions in this final week of the Spring Term. Drama pupils, both GCSE and A Level, acted out their practical pieces for assessment in front of a socially distanced, audience. On top of this, the enduringly popular Cabaret returned, live streamed over YouTube, which captured some of the magic of this wonderful school.

In addition, the Prep school ensembles concert, brought together music, art, dance and photography, some filmed by the pupils themselves at home and at school. It was an excellent piece of engaging work for parents and staff to enjoy seeing the youngsters perform together online.

Cabaret 2021 followed a slightly different format, in that the impact of this year’s lockdown restrictions has meant that pupils have been largely unable to practice together. Despite having just a few weeks back in school, and through hours of rehearsal in isolation, the Music Department was able to put together a full schedule of performances.

The theme of this year’s Cabaret was ‘The Beatles’ and all performances were Beatles songs, including the iconic ‘Come Together’, which was performed by staff members and pupils in collaboration.

The end of term also gave our drama pupils across the school a chance to deliver their performances to an audience of teachers and pupils. Pupils were required to deliver monologues from a book or film. There were talks from Of Mice and Men and as well as other, more contemporary works and pupils will receive assessment on these works in the Summer Term.
