There is an extensive community swimming programme at the College. Audrey Tovey and her team run lessons after school most days of the week and on Saturday mornings. These half-hour classes range from beginners all the way to stage 10 ASA National Plan sessions. There is also an opportunity for 8-13 year olds to sign up to a Rookie Lifeguards course which includes CPR and First aid. The classes runs in term time for 10 weeks and cost £65.00 per person.
Certificates are awarded and included in the course fee for children having acquired the recognised ASA criteria consistently and are ready to move to the next stage within the framework scheme. All teaching staff are ASA or STA (Swimming Teachers Association) accredited.
Learn to Swim & stage 2 classes have a maximum of 6 children per class with helper support assisting in the water.
These termly classes are also supplemented by intensive classes run in the holidays – these are designed to progress the children by attending daily for 5 consecutive days.
