Brandeston County Athletic Champions

Brandeston Hall in Sensational Form at The Suffolk AAAs County Championships

Brandeston Hall pupils started the Athletics season in record-breaking form.  On Sunday, 13th May, the pupils braved the rain at The Suffolk Amateur Athletics Association Championships at The West Suffolk Athletics Arena in Bury St Edmunds. 

The children, who were fresh from an Athletics Master Class with Great Britain decathlete Darren Hatton, recorded an astonishing nine gold medals, seven silver medals and four bronze medals.

Brandeston Hall County Athletes

Gold medallists included:

  • Ryan Clarke Under 15 Shot, who also recorded silver medals in the javelin and the 100m.
  • Matthew Warren Under 13 Hurdles
  • Susannah Reid Under 13 1,500m, setting a new school record of 5 minutes 32 seconds in the process.
  • Jack Scott Under 13 800m
  • Stephen Packer Under 13 Discus and Javelin,
  • Sophie Warner Under 13 Shot putt and discus
  • Lydia Green who not only broke the school record but set a new County record with a javelin throw of 24.20m.

Silver and bronze medals were recorded by Jasmine Lawson Under 13 75m hurdles (silver) 100m and long jump (bronze), Jack Scott Under 13 Long Jump (silver), Matthew Warren 1,500m (bronze), Eve Lawson Under 13 Shot (bronze) and Discus (silver), Olivia Cowley Under 15 High Jump (silver), Emily Wilford Under 15 Javelin (Silver) and Jack Pearson Under 13 100m.

The pupils who were clearly delighted their performances can now look forward to the East of England Championships and the County Cup.
